OBITUARY

Zinnia Engelhardt, 82, of Savannah, Georgia passed away on 11/28. Zinnia is predeceased by her parents, Eva and Julius Schonhaut, and her husband of 59 years, Jack Engelhardt. She is survived by her children, Roz and Stephen Harris and Susann Shenk, and grandchildren, Mallory (Alex Sherman), Elayna, and Julia Harris, and Aaron and Justin Shenk, and her sister, Charlotte Katz.

Zinnia was born in Brooklyn, graduating high school at 16, and then attending Brooklyn College, majoring in elementary education. Her teaching career spanned decades, leaving a lasting impression on countless students who adoringly knew her as Mrs. E. She was the perennial volunteer, often chosen to be president, and never wanting recognition.

Zinnia was a voracious reader, enjoyed a good number or logic puzzle, and closely followed politics and current events. She cherished moments with her community of dear friends. Zinnia loved nothing more than spending time with and caring for her family.
