OBITUARY: 
Stewart Weiner passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16 after an amazing life filled with love, family, baseball, golf, and travel.

Stewart was born in The Bronx, New York on April 2, 1948. He graduated from The Bronx High School of Science before continuing his studies at Queens College in New York and Cornell Law School. Following law school, he left New York, making the somewhat curious decision that paradise was located in Dearborn, Michigan, in the legal department at Ford Motor Company. It turned out to be the right decision, because it was in the legal department at Ford where he met his wife, Nancy. Nancy and Stewart married in 1972 and enjoyed every day together over the next 54 years of marriage.

Stewart remained at Ford for over 30 years, eventually becoming Chairman of the Dealer Policy Board, but he always put his family first. He and Nancy had two children, Seth and Jessica, and Stewart never missed their Little League games, swim meets, soccer games or horseback riding exhibitions, even though it was clear from a young age that neither of his children was going to become a professional athlete. Stewart was an amazing father who always helped with homework and provided life lessons that his children of course wouldn’t appreciate until they were much older. The days and years were filled with dining out for family dinners, traveling and attending countless sporting events.

Seth moved to Atlanta in 2001 and just a few years later, Stewart was able to retire, so he and Nancy moved to Atlanta, as well. Jessica then followed suit, as did Stewart’s brother, Joel, and the family was reunited. Grandchildren followed, as did more family dinners and vacations, along with attending their grandchildren’s sports activities. Stewart and Nancy also travelled around the world, went to shows, and seemed to spend every weekend attending free concerts by cover bands who never quite lived up to the original. In retirement, Stewart and Nancy lived on a golf course, and Stewart and Seth played golf as often as possible. It was clear that he would never make the Senior Tour, but few have ever had more fun trying.

Everyone who knew Stewart loved him, and he brought joy wherever he went. He was kind, compassionate, intelligent and funny, and he will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Seth Weiner (Susan) and Jessica Barnett (Santwan); grandchildren, Samantha and Sophie Weiner, and Astin Barnett; and brother, Joel Weiner. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Obby Weiner.
