OBITUARY:
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Robert Sean Roarty passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025 at his home in Atlanta from a rare neurodegenerative disease. Born in 1953 and raised in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Elizabeth and William Roarty. After moving to Atlanta and spending thirty years in the printing business, Bob, along with his wife Jan, was able to realize a life-long dream of owning a bookstore. In 2007, they purchased Atlanta Vintage Books. Bob was a voracious reader and could expound on many subjects, particularly history. He was loved by many for his special gift for storytelling. Surviving are his beloved wife of 35 years, Jan Bolgla; sisters Eileen, MaryBeth (Lance), and Margaret (Warren); brothers Bill, Mark (Sharon) and Michael (Ann Marie); brothers-in-law Harvey (Robert) and Mitchell (Michele) and sister-in-law Beth (Jack) and a host of much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dressler's Jewish Funeral Care will be handling the arrangements. There will be no funeral service but a celebration of his life is planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob's honor and memory to the Atlanta NPR affiliate at WABE.ORG.
