OBITUARY

Raymond (Ray) Gene Norton, 79, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on May 24, 2025, surrounded by his wife Cheryl, and children Rebecca and Robert.

Born March 20, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, Ray was a proud native Texan who grew up in Abilene and spent many years raising his family in Plano, TX.  Ray studied at the University of Texas then went on to serve his country with honor in the Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed in Da Nang from 1969 to 1970, and was a passionate advocate for community involvement throughout his life.

After his service, Ray then went on to build a successful career in medical sales, earning numerous sales awards before he retired after 42 years in the medical industry. Ray will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep generosity, and the love he shared with family, friends, and community. Ray will be remembered for his love of sharing stories from his many adventures in life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Norton (née Stern); his brother, Charles Norton (Sandra) of Flower Mound, TX; his children, Rebecca (Tony) of Decatur, GA and Robert (Tonya) of Coto de Caza, CA; and his cherished grandchildren: Hayden, Caleb and McKenna Norton and Zak (Aaron) and Dorothy Sideris. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews and many others who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Ray is proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Norton, as well as, his beloved dog, Libby.

A service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, 10:00 am at North Atlanta Memorial Park, 5188 Winters Chapel Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30360.

Donations may be made in his name to any Veterans group or a charity of your choice.
