OBITUARY:

Penny Finfer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away quietly at home on February 28.

She is survived by husband Al Finfer, daughter Kellie White, son Nicholas (Michelle) White, granddaughters Kristin White, Lauren (Will) Miller, Megan (Jayden) Zundel and great grandson Miles Miller. She was the youngest of six children of John and Aurora Logan and was predeceased by four older brothers and an older sister.

Penny was born and raised in the border town of Nogales, Arizona. She often commented on what a wonderful childhood she had growing up in a small town where "no ever locked their doors". She remained lifelong friends with her childhood playmates and especially with her fellow cheerleaders for the Nogales High School Apaches.

Penny moved to Southern California to attend Loma Linda University. She remained in California until 1995, when she and husband Al moved to Atlanta.

Penny was dedicated to children and their health and physical fitness all of her life. Her working life was as a physical education teacher. She taught at a private K thru 8 academy where she was the only PE teacher. She led PE outdoors every day for every grade. When she retired, they had to hire 2 teachers to replace her.

In Atlanta, she was an active and devoted member of Temple Emanuel. She was also passionate for the MJCCA. She called it her home away from home. Penny was at the "J" 6 days a week right up until her final few months. Penny and Al were active committee members and supporters of the Book Festival of the MJCCA. Some of her last outings were to attend the Book Festival in November.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Penny's honor be made to the MJCCA or Temple Emanuel. A memorial will be (was) held at Temple Emanuel on March 4th.
