OBITUARY
Noah G. Johnson was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 5th, 1992 into a large family native to Atlanta and beyond. From his earliest days, Noah showed a curiosity of and desire to learn about the world. He spent his childhood in Virginia-Higlands surrounded by people who loved him, particularly his extensive family. He attended Morningside Elementary, Inman Middle, and Grady High School. Over the years, Noah made many memories on Grayton Beach, exploring cities across the country, and walking the hills of Pulaski, TN. He was on the debate team, and held multiple jobs in neighborhood restaurants, developing his love for food and cooking. He was an active member in his synagogue community at Congregation Bet Haverim.
Noah attended Georgia State University where he graduated with a double major of political science and history. These combined interests fed his pursuit to explore other cultures, traditions, and cuisines. He experienced the beauty of Israel on his trip through Birthright. Soon after, he studied abroad in Strasbourg, France focusing on foreign economics. There, he spent a beautiful semester living in the attic of a chateau, exploring neighboring countries and cities, and sampling all the cuisine there was to offer. His travels continued as he moved to Washington D.C. to become a member of the Avodah Service Corp. Washington was Noah’s dream place to live and work, and being a part of the Avodah Service Corp. was one of his greatest joys. From there, Noah worked at the Jewish Roundtable during a year of a strategic planning process which initiated much of the organization today. Most recently, Noah worked in financial operations at Young Invincibles, whose mission is to amplify the voices of young adults in politics and provide economic opportunities.
Our beloved Noah cared deeply for others, the world, his family, and his friends. He loved politics and was passionate about the causes he believed in. He was brilliant, and loved to consume large volumes of information through books, varied newspapers, and podcasts. He delighted in rich discussions, determined to understand how others viewed the world. Noah set extremely high goals for himself, and was incredibly hardworking, determined, and tenacious.
Noah is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Robert Goldsmith, Carolyn Goldsmith, Emma Faye Johnson, and Billy Johnson, his uncles Gary Rosenthal and Mike Clark, and his cousin Samuel Begner.
Noah is survived by his loving parents Kim Goldsmith and Dave Johnson, his sister Roxanne Johnson and her husband, Chastain Clark, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Atlanta area and beyond.
Noah will be sorely missed by friends, family, and many in his community in Atlanta, Washington DC, and elsewhere. May the memory of Noah’s curiosity, kindness, persistence, and brilliance be a blessing to us all.
DONATIONS: Contributions can be made to Congregation Bet Haverim, or the Avodah Service Corp in Noah’s memory.
