Morris Friedman

OBITUARY:

Morris Jay “Mo” Friedman passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. Born in Atlanta to Alfred Milton and Vivian Mae Friedman, of blessed memory, he was a “Renaissance Man” who dedicated his life to learning, adventure and most of all family.

After graduating from Grady High School and the University of Georgia, Morris earned both a Doctor of Education and a Doctor of Philosophy from Georgia State University. The majority of his career was spent working as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Gwinnett Technical Institute where he was known not just as an administrative leader,  but as a mentor and tireless advocate for student success.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Morris embraced life with enthusiasm. Morris often described retirement as his “Quest for Too Much Fun.” Among his many hobbies over the years were  guitar, photography, golf, cycling, and working on his cherished Mustang. His car was easily identified in the community by his tag which said “VAGABOND.”

As a certified kayak instructor and river trip coordinator for Georgia Canoeing Association, Morris shared his love of kayaking with his daughters and granddaughter who still enjoy time on the lakes and rivers. He also shared his love of music with them and took immense pride in their accomplishments in the arts.

Morris was a devoted member of Temple Beth David in Snellville, where he taught Sunday School, served as Education Director, and participated in numerous committees. He also served as cantor for more than a decade.

Morris is survived by the love of his life, Felice, whom he met when they both were counselors at Ajecomce (AJCC) Day Camp. They spent their days teaching  Jewish traditions, leading activities and wrangling campers, all while building a bond that would last through 55 years of marriage.

In addition to Felice, Morris is survived by daughters Michelle Friedman and Alisa Moore; son-in-law Rufus Stanley Moore; granddaughter Raina Moore; brothers Freddy and David Friedman; and many beloved relatives. His family would like to extend special thanks to their primary caregiver, Natascha Banda.

A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Morris’ memory to Georgia Canoeing Association or to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research .
