OBITUARY

LOU EDWARD PARKER died peacefully in his sleep after an extended battle with a debilitating illness, October 6, 2024. Lou was born July 6, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and moved at a young age with his single mother, Stella Homeniuk, and Lou’s older brother, Bill Homeniuk, to Winnipeg, Manitoba. A few years after Stella remarried and gave birth to Lou’s younger brother Gary Kormylo, Lou and Billy left home to work in the mines and ride motorcycles across the country.

Lou settled in Toronto, Ontario where he met Toby Weiner z’’l. They wed in 1969 and moved to Atlanta after the birth of their first child, and their second child arrived shortly after the move. Lou began his career as a door-to-door salesman selling Fuller Brushes and Encyclopedia Britannica, eventually graduating to selling watches, fine jewelry and diamonds throughout the South.  Lou’s passions were his kids, grandkids, friends, beach time, cooking, grilling (he considered them different things), yard work, Haagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche ice cream and finding the perfect boxed wine.

He is survived by his long-term partner, Jane Duffield, his son Jason (Jennifer) Parker, his daughter Michelle Parker (Marcelo Fernandez), and grandchildren, Benjamin, Sidney and Lorenzo, and Jane’s children Sandy (Greg) Wilson and Paula Duffield, and her grandchildren Luke and Rebecca Wilson and Ryan Duffield, his brother Gary (Eileen) Kormylo and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at North Atlanta Memorial Park, 5188 Winters Chapel Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30360.
