FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday April 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM at The Temple Cemetery, 2001 15th Ave N, Nashville, Tennessee 37208-1413, US
OBITUARY:
Linda Schlanger, 79, passed away peacefully in Atlanta on April 26.
Linda was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on November 3, 1946. Even after moving to Nashville as an adult, she was very fond of returning to Charleston through the years. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in education. While in Athens, Linda met the love of her life, Melvin Schlanger. They married on July 7, 1968. After teaching throughout her 20s, Linda began a well-regarded career as an abstract artist while continuing to volunteer at schools throughout Nashville. She studied at the College of Charleston, the Watkins Institute in Nashville, and Belmont University. Eventually, Linda opened a home studio, and her work was frequently displayed in Nashville art shows and at The Temple, where her family were members for many years.
Linda made friends easily and always greeted new people with open arms. She loved the arts, was an avid traveler, developed a love of cooking, and had a superb sense of style.
Linda was preceded in death by Melvin, her loving husband of 51 years and by her sister, Esther. She is survived by her son, Brian; daughter, Stephanie (Eric); brother, Harris Feinstein (Suzette); nephews Benjamin and Ari Feinstein (Jessie); and many loving cousins.
A graveside funeral service was held on Thursday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at The Temple Cemetery in Nashville.
