OBITUARY:
In Loving Memory of Jules “J.B.” Cohn (1940-2026)
Jules Barth Cohn, age 86, recently of Atlanta, Georgia passed away after an incredibly swift decline, supported and loved by his nearest and dearest, and 1970s Soft Rock playing on the iPad.
J.B. was born in Hutchinson, Kansas to parents, Henry and Hortense. And had a younger sister, Cissy, whose death preceded his.
J.B. spent his formative years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and obtained his undergrad and master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma. In 1965, he and Patti moved to St. Louis, where they lived and created a wonderful life for 57 years. He spent his entire working career in Information Technology and knew a little bit about a lot of things. Sports, Sports, Sports, Wars, Airplanes…you name it, he knew it. Sports: if it was on, he’d watch it. And commentate. And stats. He knew them. To his last days. His favorite film was Dr. Strangelove. He loved the arts. He enjoyed good food and travel. Especially Paris. We’ll always have Paris.
He leaves behind his best friend and wife of 64 years, Patti; his daughter, Halli Cohn and son-in-law, Rich Warren; and daughter, Lauren Cohn. He open-heartedly supported all of their endeavors and was deeply proud of their accomplishments. He cherished his relationship with his granddaughters Sydney (her husband Jack) and Carly.
J.B. enjoyed his life and the people with whom he shared it. The past four years have been in Atlanta. This last chapter has been filled with fun, adventure, and community. He was so happy they made the move.
There will be a graveside ceremony on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10 AM at Arlington Memorial Park, with one night of shiva that evening from 6-8 PM at the home of daughter and son-in-law, Halli Cohn and Rich Warren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winship Brain Tumor Fund and Giving Kitchen.
