OBITUARY:
Jerry Yoram Ben-Dov, 82, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away on May 29, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with heart failure.
He is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 56 years, Patricia (“Pat” née Ray), adoring daughters Laurie (Ralph) Morris and Sharon Ben-Dov, and cherished grandson Cody (Chandee) Evans as well as twin brother Eitan (Barbara). He was the beloved son of Pnina (z”l) and Avraham (z”l) Ben-Dov. Jerry is predeceased by his older brother Gedalia “Gedi” Ben-Dov (z”l) and beloved nephew David Ben-Dov (z”l).
Jerry was a loving uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend to many. Pets, babies, and children adored Jerry. He took in numerous rescue dogs over the years and was a doting caregiver to his granddog known as RickyTaco. To Jerry’s neighbors, he was known as someone always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or serve on community boards where he and Pat resided. He was a very modest but worldly man, always current on news and geopolitics, and able to offer an informed view on world affairs and history. He was a skilled blackjack and poker player, and with his hearty laugh, he always loved comedic movies and late-night talk shows. He also loved seafood, the beach, European pastries, Middle Eastern food, and lovingly tended a large collection of houseplants together with his wife.
Jerry also had a hidden talent as an editor and proofreader, often helping his daughter, Sharon, by reviewing her book manuscripts and other writing projects with an eagle eye. But as a devoted family man and steadfast friend, nothing pleased him more than taking care of his family, friends, and neighbors.
Jerry came to the U.S. from Israel at the age of 15, attended City College of New York, and then served as a medic in the U.S. Army, where he met Pat at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia. He spent his career in supply chain and logistics in the home furnishings and fashion industries and retired from Empire Distributors. Upon retirement, he and Pat enjoyed many years and made countless fond memories and friends in Gulf Shores, Alabama; Pensacola, Florida; and Ft. Myers, Florida. He took great pride in his 10 years of volunteer service with the Lee County, Florida, Sheriff’s Department.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA, with Rabbi Steven Lebow officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or BrainUp, a nonprofit working to find a cure for brain cancers.
