OBITUARY:
Helen Zimmerman Hahn, z”l, 88, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on August 13, after a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her presence will be deeply missed. 

Born in Atlanta, Helen was the daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Zimmerman, both of Atlanta. She graduated from Grady High School in 1955 and attended The University of Alabama. While at  Alabama, Helen met her husband, Frank E. Hahn III of Philadelphia, PA and the two were married in 1959. 

Before starting her family, Helen taught preschool at the Atlanta Jewish Community Center. Her deep love of family was illustrated through her countless sleepovers with her grandchildren, the infamous matzo ball eating contests with her grandsons, and the one and only rule of “No crying at Puma’s house.” Helen will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, love of family, and for being the steady voice of reason to all who knew her. Whether playing the role of master chef, head nurse, or the strictest of confidant, she never took lightly the importance of each. 

Helen is survived by her husband, Frank; her son Jeff (Sheryl) Hahn; her daughter Amy (Michael) Egerman; her grandchildren Lawrence (Danielle) Hahn, Allison (Craig) Mehlman, Mark (Eytal) Egerman, and Melanie Egerman (Jack Callahan); and her great-grandchildren Maggie, Jacob, Aria, Sienna, and Norah. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, August 16 at Ahavath Achim Synagogue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
