OBITUARY
December 20, 1934 – April 21, 2025
Ella Salteyskaya, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on April 21st, 2025, surrounded by family. She was 90 years old—though in true Ella fashion, she might have claimed to be a bit younger. Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on December 20, 1934, she often quipped that the Soviet bureaucracy gave her a second birthday when her official paperwork wasn’t processed until February 1935—an “extra” few months of youth she never hesitated to claim.
At the heart of Ella’s life was her amazing partnership with her husband, Zinovy. Married for 67 years, they had a symbiotic bond, they each supported each other in ways they could not themselves, together they were the picture of a beautiful love. They built a life filled with rich memories and family traditions.
Ella’s love language was feeding people, and she made sure no one around her ever went hungry. A truly gifted cook, she always cooked from memory—no recipes needed, just instinct, tradition, and love. Her family recipes—passed down lovingly through generations—will continue to nourish and connect her family for years to come.
Ella prided herself on her family, she would never go a day without boasting about how beautiful they were or of their many accomplishments. She is survived by her devoted daughter Stella, who inherited her strength, sharp wit, and her love for caring for others. Her four cherished grandchildren—Evgeny, Yana, Mark, and Victoria—each of whom carry a spark of her spirit forward, were not only her pride but also her joy. Ella helped raise them, molding them into the people they are today. She filled their lives with vivid memories, support, and a love that shaped their hearts and will stay with them always.
Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA) on Friday, April 25th at 12:00 p.m., followed by a meal of condolence at the Dashevsky household
