Edith Harriet "Eadie" Hahn, 1928-2025
Edith Harriet (Eadie) Hahn passed away peacefully and surrounded by her children at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unapologetic style. Born in 1928 on Long Island, New York to Joe and Marion Hahn, Eadie grew up with a strong sense of family—none closer than her beloved sister and lifelong best friend, Lenore.
In 1960, she moved to Atlanta, where she built a life marked by hard work and determination. After working for Shirley of Atlanta, Eadie opened her own liquor store on Bankhead Highway, a bold and independent venture that helped her support her two surviving children, Lisa Schultz and Michael Schwartz. She later welcomed her cherished daughter-in-law, Cyndi, into the family.
Eadie eventually retired alongside her longtime sweetheart, Leonard Greenbaum, spending winters in Boynton Beach, Florida and the rest of the year in Buckhead. In Florida, she was known for her festive Super Bowl parties, competitive golf games, and lively Canasta and Mah Jongg tables. In Atlanta, she treasured time with her grandchildren, Jennifer Harvey, Ryan Schultz, and Joshua Schwartz, who brought her endless pride—and her grandson-in-law, Michael Harvey, who she welcomed with open arms.
Eadie was a woman of spirit. She was an exceptionally talented needlepoint artist and a connoisseur of rare steak and country club pours of Pinot Grigio. She was beloved not just for her sharp wit, but for her stories of growing up—always delivered with a punchline.
She was deeply proud of her family and remained the vibrant heart of every gathering. Her stories, sass, and strength will be missed by all who loved her—especially the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who were lucky enough to be part of her world.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20 at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter, Lisa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to NAMI Georgia in Eadie’s memory: https://namiga.org/get-involved/donate/
