OBITUARY:

David Alan Schnitzer, 66, passed away on July 25, 2026 after an extended illness. He leaves behind a son, Thomas Schnitzer, of Cumming GA; sister Lynn Schnitzer of Stone Mountain GA; brother Brian Schnitzer and sister-in-law Jill Schnitzer from Lawrenceville GA; nephews Kyle and Kevin Schnitzer; uncle Ira Ginsburg of East Lansing MI; and other friends and family. He is preceded in death by his father Elmer Walter Schnitzer and mother Ina Ginsburg Schnitzer.

David was born on May 19, 1960 at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta GA. The oldest of three, he graduated from Briarcliff High School and DeKalb College. In High School, he enjoyed playing in the marching and brass bands. After high school, he enjoyed playing tennis and basketball at local parks with friends.

David spent his early summers working in his grandfather’s store which solidified his entrepreneurial spirit. His early career was focused on retail management at large national retailers like Kmart and Big Lots. Afterwards, he founded and operated Yard Pros, a lawn service company in Gwinnett County. More recently, he operated an eBay shop for men’s clothing.

David was most proud of his son, Thomas. Together, they would go to hockey games, air shows, estate sales, and coin shows. Thomas has fond memories of many annual traditions, such as lighting the menorah at Hanukkah, going to watch July 4th fireworks, and viewing giant Christmas inflatable displays together. David introduced Thomas to 80s music, hockey chants, and thrift stores. They also played a driving game where they would guess how many boats they’d see when they crossed the Chattahoochee River.

David loved parties, friends, and family. He brought people together and loved to host parties, gatherings, holidays, and birthday celebrations.

David collected coins and baseball cards. He loved the Braves, Coca-Cola, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Jello, steak dinners, crime & medical TV dramas, The Big Bang Theory, and old John Wayne movies.

David will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Atlanta Humane Society
