OBITUARY:
David Levine, 83, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on July 3, 2026. David was born in Charleston, SC on December 24, 1942, the first child of Anita and Sol Levine, who predeceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Eve (nee Mendelsohn), his four children (Mandy + spouse Ulrich, Alison, Scott, and Eric), his much-adored grandchildren, Sophie and Max Brackenhammer, and his siblings Rose Ross and Ralph Levine. We remember him for his love of the beach (notably, Sullivans Island, SC), his penchant for colorful sneakers, and love of music. After growing up in Charleston, with a brief-but-important stint in Barnwell, SC, David graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1964 and then earned his JD from Emory University School of Law in 1967. He settled in Atlanta, GA, where he practiced law for the next 58 years.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Sandy Springs, GA on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:30am. Shiva follows immediately at the home of Nathan Metzger, located at 5275 New London Trace NW, Atlanta, GA 30327, lasting until 3:00pm. Additional Shiva will be observed at the Metzger home on Thursday July 9th from 3:00-7:00 and Friday July 10th from 3:00-7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of David N. Levine may be made to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
