OBITUARY:
Billie Beck Guthman November 21, 1935 – January 16, 2025

Bille Beck Guthman, age 89 of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away January 16,2025. She died peacefully at Berman Commons located in Dunwoody, Georgia.

Billie was born in Bessemer, Alabama in 1935 to Adolph and Rema Beck. Billie attended the University of Alabama and majored in communications. Billie married in 1957 and loved spending the following twenty years fully immersed in her growing family and volunteer work. Years later Billie found her niche in real estate, purchasing and managing rental properties, followed by investing in the stock market. She continued to trade stocks until her passing.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband Sig, her sister Betty, and is survived by her son Steve, his wife Sue Ann, her daughter Sue, and her husband Robert, four grandkids: Erin, Megan, Cole, and Connor, and two great grandchildren Isla and Beck.

Billie was active in many organizations ranging from The Temple, Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, The High Museum, The Symphony, Solidarity Sandy Springs Food Bank, and her local Homeowner’s Association.  The birth of Sandy Springs as a city has been of utmost importance to her, and she has been an avid supporter of all aspects of its growth.

Billie was quite fortunate to have time to enjoy her passions, which included traveling the world, attending Symphony and Broadway shows, really theatre of all kinds, be it professional or local, she loved it all.  Billie was an artist herself early on, and her love of art expressed itself in her collection of modern art, displayed throughout her house, allowing her to feel as though she lived in a museum.

The most important thing to Billie throughout her life was her family. She and Sig had a long and beautiful marriage of 50 years. Billie continued to enjoy a very close relationship with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, as she helped to shape the wonderful people that they all have become. Also, Billie’s friends have played such an important role in her life, all to say Billie would tell any and everyone that she had the absolute best life of anyone she knew, and she could not have been any more fulfilled.

Service will be held at Legacy Chapel, Arlington Cemetery, Sandy Springs, 11:00am Sunday January 19th, followed by a reception on the grounds. Donations to the Temple or any Sandy Springs cause would be greatly appreciated.
