Bill Gotthelf OBITUARY

Bill Gotthelf, 75, of Tucker, Georgia, died on April 7, 2025. Born to Beatrice and Harold Gotthelf in Jackson, Mississippi, Bill always held a deep affection for his hometown. He earned a PhD from Georgia State University and chose to remain in Atlanta, working as a psychologist for the federal government. Eventually, his mother joined him in Atlanta, and Bill was devoted to her care.

Friendship held a special place in Bill’s heart, and it was important to him to maintain meaningful connections with friends from his childhood and university years. Nineteen years ago, Bill met his partner, Sue, and they bonded over a love for the beach, frequently traveling to new destinations together.

The family wishes to thank the hospice nurses who helped a great deal.  Bill's final wish was to be laid to eternal rest in the hometown he held so dear—Jackson, Mississippi—beside his mother and brother.

Bill is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Lee; and more recently, his cousin-in-law to whom he was close, Rabbi Alvin Sugarman.

Survivors include his loving partner, Susan Lawrence; his cousin, Barbara Sugarman; and many cherished friends, including Don Mitchell and Lynn Crystal.
