OBITUARY:
Albert “Al” Abrams, 93, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on August 10, 2026, after a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Al built a life distinguished by curiosity, purpose, integrity, and deep devotion to his family. Over the years, he called Brooklyn, New York; Manalapan, New Jersey; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Roswell, Georgia, home. Al graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and earned a degree in chemical engineering from the City College of New York.

Al enjoyed two meaningful careers. He began his professional life as a chemical engineer and later returned to his alma mater, Brooklyn Tech, as a high school chemistry teacher, where he shared his knowledge of science and lifelong love of learning.

Outside his professional life, Al pursued his interests with the same enthusiasm and attention he brought to his work. He loved photography, travel, museums, and reading history – especially the history of World War II. He also enjoyed collecting and painting miniature soldiers and airplanes. These passions reflected his keen eye, inquiring mind, and appreciation for the stories of the past.

Proud of his Jewish heritage, Al lived according to enduring values of loyalty, integrity, and love. Above all, he treasured time with his family. Just a few weeks before his passing, he and his beloved wife, Ursula, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary – a meaningful milestone that reflected the enduring love and partnership they shared. Through Ursula, who is from Ireland, Al developed close and lasting bonds with her extended family and made many dear friends there. His children and grandchildren were a source of immeasurable pride and joy, and the memories they created together will remain among his greatest legacies.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Etta and David Abrams, and his brother, Martin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ursula; his daughters, Joanne Mello and her husband, John, and Karen Kalita and her husband, Nick; his grandchildren, James and Nora; and his extended family.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
