OBITUARY:
Adam Lane Alterman, 59, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Helene Herman Louza and Richard and Marty Alterman. He graduated from Riverwood High School in 1984 and attended the University of Georgia.
After graduating from UGA, Adam joined Commercial Real Estate Advisors, where he became a partner and part owner and enjoyed a successful career as a commercial real estate broker and investor.
Adam loved life. He was an avid music fan who grew up during the heyday of classic rock ’n’ roll, loving groups ranging from The Who and Pink Floyd to the Grateful Dead. Until recently, he traveled around the country to see many of his favorite jam bands, including Phish and My Morning Jacket.
Adam was very active and loved spending time outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and biking with his son, Ben. He was athletic from a young age, playing football and baseball, and as an adult, he loved snowboarding, mountain biking, and hiking. He also loved to travel, finding adventure wherever he went.
Adam had many good friends, most of whom he first met in elementary school. He loved his family deeply. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Byron and his mother, Helene. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his son, Ben; his father, Richard, and stepmother, Marty; his former wife, Becky; his brothers, Joe (Stephanie) and Mitchell (Paige); and many cousins and other extended family members.
The family wishes to thank Dynamic Hospice and CaraVita caregivers, especially Chinwe and Ruby for the compassionate care and support they provided to Adam.
