OBITUARY:
Nathan Michael David Harris (known generally as Michael N. Harris) passed away peacefully, at age 79, on April 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Edbert and Estelle Harris, his brother, Paul Harris, his sister, Susan Goodrich, his aunt and uncle Jean and Joe Benamy, who raised him, and his beloved cousin Bebe Benamy Holtz.
Michael was born in South Carolina and raised in Atlanta. He graduated from Henry Grady High School, Duke University, and Emory Medical School, interning at The Washington Hospital Center in DC. He practiced emergency room medicine most of his career until medical issues forced an early retirement in California, where he thrived and was a very successful businessman. Michael was very entrepreneurial and creative. His passion was his chromolithographs for which he acquired books of original content and used technology to enhance the beauty of the 19th century photorealistic prints. A perfectionist, he spent many hours scaning his beloved pictures to ensure that the result was flawless.
Michael voiced many times that he would like to be remembered as someone who was kind to others. He always tried to do this and wanted nothing more than to share his love for nature, art, glass and all things beautiful – which he did with friends, family and acquaintances.
We are inspired to continue his legacy and ask that everyone carry on his “kindness” that was so important to him.
